Nutiva Certified Organic MCT Oil, 128 Fluid Ounce

Nutiva Organic MCT Oil is an oil concentrated with the Medium-chain triglycerides, caprice acid and caprylic acid. Medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs, are the types of saturated fatty acids typically found in coconuts. Using a USDA certified organic process, we gently remove the fats from virgin coconut oil that remain solid at room temperature, leaving high levels of caprice and caprylic acids. Unlike non-organic MCT Oil brands, there are no chemicals or filler oils used during this process, resulting in a clean, light coconut-flavored MCT Oil with no harsh aftertaste.

Although the Amazon description indicates it’s a BPA-free bottle, nowhere ON THE BOTTLE do I see anything that reads BPA-Free. What’s worse is the cap and spout are useless. The oil dribbles out of the bottle in these giant messy glob-like drops…

“Maybe she’s born with it–maybe it’s coconut oil.”– Anon. I don’t use MCT oils for cooking generally; when using coconut oil I prefer the classic version. Coconut oil contains large amounts of lauric acid (about 50% of the total fat content), and our bodies convert this to monolaurin, which has terrific anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-parasite properties. MCT oils remove much of the lauric acid content. This Nutiva version still has some, which is nice, but the levels are drastically reduced to make this a liquid at room temperature. But we never…
